EICAR Test - Test the Working of your Antivirus.

Have you ever think that how to test your Antivirus software to know that it working properly or not? Here I give a simple way to test your antivirus. The process is known as EICAR test which will work on any antivirus and was developed by European Institute of Computer Antivirus Research. This process can be used by people, companies and antivirus programmers to test the proper functioning of the antivirus/antimalware software without having to deal with the real computer virus which can cause damage to the computer. Here is a step-by-step procedure to test your antivirus.

1. Open a notepad (New Text Document.TXT) and copy the following code, and save the notepad.

Creating Folder named CON : Why You Cant Create It And How To Create

Why we cannot create a folder named CON in Windows?

 

 

What is the reason for this? This is because these names represent the internal devices and hence we cannot create folders with the above names.

NOT BELIEVE?? You may try to create a folder and name it as “con”. In Windows XP the folder name will automatically changes back to “New Folder” no matter how many times you try. Whereas in Windows Vista or Windows 7 when you try to rename the folder or file to “con” you will get an error message “The specified device name is invalid”. Besides “con” you may also failed to create the following file names:-

 If it happens, to you, start windows in safe mode, and open registry editor by typiing REGEDIT in start->run. navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]and remove the string value named VIRUS, restart you computer.
